(From Jobe Funeral Home)John P. Dodson, age 84, of Monroeville passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Born on January 8, 1942, in Joplin, MO, John was the son of the late Chester and M. Virginia (McFerran) Dodson.
John's life was marked by service and adventure. He served with distinction as a U.S. Army Helicopter Pilot during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he continued his career as a pilot for Bell Helicopter (Iran) and Life Flight-AGH (Pittsburgh).
His work and sense of adventure took him and his beloved wife, Patti, across the globe, living in Iran and Germany before settling in Alaska, and later Missouri, before making Turtle Creek and later Monroeville, PA, their home in 1985.
Together, John and Patti shared a passion for exploration. They traveled extensively, around the world and road trips across the United States, visiting many of our National Parks. John also enjoyed the freedom of the open road in his RV and, for a time, spent peaceful moments sailing on a lake in Pennsylvania. John was a dedicated member of several veterans' organizations, including a lifetime membership with VFW Post #92, the American Legion, and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association.
