Glenda Fetter

Glenda Jane Lankford Fetter of Joplin, Missouri, entered into eternal rest; surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 3:08 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Glenda was born on December 5, 1937 in Miami, Oklahoma, to Glenn and Julia Gamble Lankford of rural Seneca, Missouri. She was the first of seven children in the Lankford household and would be loved all her life as their beautiful big sister.

She grew up among her many Lankford cousins out on the prairie near the old Dessa Store, southeast of Seneca and attended Westview School. She grew up attending services at the Swars Prairie Church of Christ.

Glenda graduated from Seneca High School in 1955 and attended Joplin Business School, where she completed a course of study to become a professional secretary. She worked as secretary to the Principal of Westview School in rural Newton County in the late 1960’s to early 1970’s. She also worked many years as secretary to the Newton County Commissioners in the court house in Neosho in the mid 1970’s to early 1990’s. Glenda is a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma where she worked as Gift Shop Manager for a number of years.

Glenda married Harold Fetter on April 8, 1986 and they have lived in the Joplin and Seneca areas throughout their 31 years of marriage. Together they have loved and enjoyed their children, Rick, Jackie, Mike, Dan and their families. Glenda or Grammy, loved spoiling her grandsons, Skyler and Payton and her grand-puppy, Shadow. Their great grandchildren, Gibson and Logan, born to grandson, Skyler, were a joy to her through her recent years of failing health.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and she and Harold attended the congregation located on 20th Street in Joplin.

She is survived by her husband Harold and their children, son, Rick Hancock and wife, Tina of Seneca; daughter, Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Hancock Rawlins of Seneca; Mike Fetter of Las Vegas, NV and Dan Fetter of Cross Plains, TN. Grandsons, Skyler Rawlins and wife, Christin of Neosho and Payton Rawlins of Nevada; great grandchildren, Gibson Rawlins and his baby sister, Logan; her siblings, Carolyne Lankford Niles of Franklin, TN; Jerry Lankford and wife, Diane of Joplin; Julie Lankford Olds and husband, Dustin of Miami, OK and Doug Lankford and wife, Gena of Miami, OK; fourteen nieces and nephews and an innumerable host of loving family members and friends.

Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Julia; her sister, Barbara Ann Mullin; brother, Stephen Ray Lankford and her first husband, George Hancock.

Glenda will lie in state, according to Miami Tribe custom, surrounded by family at 904 Cherokee St., Seneca, Missouri from Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22, 2017 through Tuesday morning, October 24.

Carlos Gonzales

Carlos José Gonzales, age 38, of Joplin, passed away in his home on Wednesday, October 4th, of natural causes.

Carlos was born in Springfield, MO, to Oscar and Donna Gonzales on March 19, 1979. He was a 1998 graduate of Joplin High School and attended MSSU.

Carlos was an avid outdoorsman and felt most alive and at home in his favorite places, Zan's and Rockbridge. He loved being with family and friends. Enjoyed movies, flea markets and buying outdoor gear. His passion was cooking always trying new things to hone his craft. He was in the process of moving to the Kansas City area in November to pursue the culinary arts. His family and friends will always remember him as an often wildly inappropriate yet funny, energetic outgoing person.

Carlos was preceded in death by his wife Natasha and his father Oscar. He is survived by his children Gabriella, Aryanna and Antonio, his stepchildren Ebony, Michael, TaShawn and Mitchell Williams, his brother Oscar II, his mother Donna and best friends Doug Carver and Jamie Curry.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 28th at 2 p.m. at Joplin Family Worship Center where Carlos served during disaster relief. The family would like to thank the JFWC Community for their generous gift of love and support.

Robert Slusher

Robert Gene Slusher, 78, Neosho, entered into rest on Oct. 19, 2017.

He moved to Neosho in 1956 from Rolla and had worked as an X-Ray Technician Inspector at Rocketdyne, Continental, Teledyne, Sabreliner and Premier Turbine in Neosho, retiring in 2002. He had a black belt in karate, was a weight lifting instructor and enjoyed playing golf. He attended Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Neosho.

 Robert married Jessalee (Box) on July 20, 1957 in Neosho and she survives. Additional survivors include four daughters, Vicky Lynn Abernathy and husband, Denny of Seneca; Debbie Ann Sprowl and husband, Robert of Milbrook, Alabama; Melinda Jo Holden and husband, Paul of Neosho and Mary Diane Smith and husband, Don of Ft. Worth, Texas; one brothers, Mike Slusher of Bentonville, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David Eugene Slusher and a brother, Billy Joe Slusher.

 Family graveside services were held October 20.

Services are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, MO.

Martha Gage

Martha Neoma Gage, 83, formerly of Goodman, MO, passed into eternal rest at 11:45 pm at the Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Martha Neoma Wethey was born December 10, 1933 in Delaware County, OK the daughter of Theodore Emmet and Martha Aretha (Patrick) Wethey. Martha was of the Pentecostal faith and faithful to her Lord and Savior she attended the Apostolic Lighthouse in Racine, MO. She loved all her family unconditionally. She loved to collect rocks and worked hard all her life. She formerly worked at Simmons in Southwest City and Crowder Industries in Neosho. Martha retired in the early 2000’s.

Martha Neoma Wethey married Troy E. Gage March 11, 1953 in Pineville, MO and he preceded her in death February 16, 2016. Also preceding her in death her parents, 5 infant children, one daughter Ruth E. Clark; siblings; Orville Wethey, Zelma Chandler, Artie Chandler and Wanell Canady.
Survivors include three sons, John Pual Gage, Cameron, MO, Troy Dale Gage, Sayer, OK and Jeff Ray Gage, Fort Supply, OK; four daughters, Dena Ballard, Aurora, MO, Rosa Edwards and husband David, Seneca, Mary Sheridan and husband John, Coleman, OK and Mitz Gage, Joplin; one brother, James Wethey, Chetopa, OK; two sisters, Ellen Gates, Marrionville, MO and Dorothy Wethey, Republic, MO and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm Monday, October 23, 2017 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kelly Sampson officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers.

Gene Roberts

Eugene Victor "Gene" Roberts, age 63, Joplin, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home.

Gene was born April 11, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of the late Eugene Victor Roberts, Sr., and Anna Rose Giunta Roberts Wallace of Claremore, Oklahoma. Gene moved to Labette County, Kansas as a child, and graduated from Labette County High School. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad as an engineer for several years before moving to Florida where he was an entrepreneur. He also hosted a talk radio show in Florida. He moved to Joplin in 2004 from Florida.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Carl Wallace.

Survivors include his daughter, Dorothy Dean, and her son Dylan of Jacksonville, Florida; mother, Anna Wallace; brother, Steven Roberts and wife Rebecca all of Claremore, Oklahoma; sister, Renada McCullough of Seattle, Washington.

Charles Collinsworth

Charles E. Collinsworth, 76, Granby, entered into rest on October 19, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital, following an extended illness.

Charles was born June 13, 1941 in Granby, Missouri, the son of Milton E. and Roma D. (Thomas) Collinsworth. He graduated from Granby High School in 1959 and had served in the U. S. Army, the National Guard and Navy Reserves for a total of twenty four years. He worked as a jet engine mechanic for Rocketdyne, Continental, Teledyne, Saberliner, Premier Turbines and Dallas Airmotive, retiring in November, 2009. He served four terms as councilman for the city of Granby and also served as mayor. He enjoyed quail hunting, cattle farming and was a devoted husband, father and papa. He was a member of the Granby Church of Christ. 

Charles and Jewell (Dobbs) were married on Aug. 5, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Lorie Ann Kutmas and husband, Mike and Charles E. Collinsworth, II and wife, Keri all of Neosho; nine grandchildren, Ross Morgan, Abbigal Madsen and husband, Zeb, Caleb Kissell, Jackson, Sam, Junior, Ellie, Leo and Amelia Collinsworth and one great grandson, August Madsen. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucretia Morrison and six brothers, Willard, Carl, Howard, Ern, Dale and Bill Collinsworth. 

Memorial services for Charles will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 11 am at the Hillcrest Church of Christ, Charles Collinsworth, II will officiate. Walter Ramsay

Dr. Walter Hugh Ramsay, Jr., DO, 82, Neosho, entered into rest on October 20, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. 

Walter was born May 1, 1935 in Neosho, the son of Walter H. Ramsay, Sr. and Christine (Peek) Ramsay. He was a lifelong area resident and had served in the Army Reserves. He was a doctor of osteopathic medicine and operated a private practice in Neosho from 1963 to 1995 and then was associated with St. John’s in Neosho for five years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Neosho Masonic Lodge No. 247; Neosho Shrine Club; Scottish Rite; Valley of Joplin; Abou Ben Adhem; York Rite and a member of the Oriental Band. He was also associated with numerous medical associations. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Walter and Judith A. Timberman were married on Aug. 23, 1959 in Joplin and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2017. He is survived by three sons, Craig Ramsay and wife, Penny and Keith Ramsay and wife, Debbie of Neosho and Chris Ramsay and wife, Kim of Shell Knob, Missouri; nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents. 

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017 at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Officiating will be Galen Lasiter. Masonic services will be held on Tuesday evening at 6 pm and visitation will follow until 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
