Charles E. Collinsworth, 76, Granby, entered into rest on October 19, 2017 at Freeman West Hospital, following an extended illness.
Charles was born June 13, 1941 in Granby, Missouri, the son of Milton E. and Roma D. (Thomas) Collinsworth. He graduated from Granby High School in 1959 and had served in the U. S. Army, the National Guard and Navy Reserves for a total of twenty four years. He worked as a jet engine mechanic for Rocketdyne, Continental, Teledyne, Saberliner, Premier Turbines and Dallas Airmotive, retiring in November, 2009. He served four terms as councilman for the city of Granby and also served as mayor. He enjoyed quail hunting, cattle farming and was a devoted husband, father and papa. He was a member of the Granby Church of Christ.
Charles and Jewell (Dobbs) were married on Aug. 5, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma and she survives. Also surviving are two children, Lorie Ann Kutmas and husband, Mike and Charles E. Collinsworth, II and wife, Keri all of Neosho; nine grandchildren, Ross Morgan, Abbigal Madsen and husband, Zeb, Caleb Kissell, Jackson, Sam, Junior, Ellie, Leo and Amelia Collinsworth and one great grandson, August Madsen. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucretia Morrison and six brothers, Willard, Carl, Howard, Ern, Dale and Bill Collinsworth.
Memorial services for Charles will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at 11 am at the Hillcrest Church of Christ, Charles Collinsworth, II will officiate. Contributions in memory of Charles may be made to Honor Flight of the Ozarks or Neosho Christian School, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
