Wayman Eugene. Perez, age 76 of Joplin, Mo. passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Wayman was born on May 27, 1941 in Bakersfield, Mo. He was the son of Emmett Nixon and Elsie (Tackett) Perez. Wayman’s family moved to Alaska when he was 9. This is where his love of the wilderness, fishing and THE LAND OF THE LAST FRONTIER stole his heart.
Wayman was a talented carpenter and a member of the Teamsters Union. His talents were seen in his handiwork in every home he lived in, in the gifts he made from swings to doll houses, and also in the loving manner in which he helped reconstruct and renovate loved one’s homes.
He was a kind doting father and grandfather who had a zany sense of humor and made everything Fun Fun Fun!!
Wayman is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Blythe Cox Perez, whom he married in Kauai, Hi., in 1984. Other loved ones include, Tara Perez of Seattle, Wa., Karen Lieurance and husband Rob of Joplin, Joan Cox-Ntiforo and husband Gustav of Albuquerque, N.M., Michael Perez of Lafayette, La., Jonathan Cox and wife Elaine of Albuquerque, Karner Cox and wife Rose of Albuquerque, Henrietta Stasser of Anchorage, Al., fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Wayman was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patty Perez.
He had a heart of GOLD and his sincere gentle personality was incredibly endearing. All who knew him, loved him.
Memorial services are being held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family would love to visit following the service.
