John Bruce Nelson of Quapaw, OK passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at his home. He was 70.
Bruce was born January 22, 1947 in Iola, KS to Carl and Wanda (Alumbaugh) Nelson. He had lived in Quapaw for 30 years moving from Jasper, MO. He owned and operated Nelson Brothers Rock Quarry in Quapaw, OK. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Randy Nelson.
Bruce married Glenda (Klix) Nelson in 1999 and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include 3 sons, Mathew Nelson and wife Cindy of Wyandotte, OK, Craig Nelson and wife Autumn of Peoria, OK and Richard Nelson and wife Brandy of Peoria, OK, his daughter Ivy Morris and husband Chauncy of Colorado Springs, CO, 2 step children Sheila Krause of Bernice, KS and Stan Wallace and wife Beth of Joplin, MO, 4 brothers Jerry Nelson of Jasper, MO, Robert Nelson of Joplin, MO, Paul Nelson of Jasper, Mo and James Nelson of Baxter Springs, KS, 2 sisters, Carol Harmon of Ocala, FL and Mary Cook of Lamar, MO, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday, October 20, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Lowell Cemetery in Lowell, KS. Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mathew Nelson, Craig Nelson, Richard Nelson, Jake Trickett, Shannon Taft and Gene Lewis.
