(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)
Phyllis Ann (Aldred) Cronenwett, age 73, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Waterford, Michigan, and Middle Point, Van Wert County, Ohio, passed away Sunday morning, October 22, 2017, in the comfort of her home, after a rapid decline due to cancer.
Phyliss was born in Pontiac, Michigan, on March 31, 1944, to the late Clarence and Lela (Smith) Aldred. She was a 1962 graduate of Redford High School. On July 24, 1965, Phyliss was united in marriage with Daniel G. Cronenwett and to this union three children were born. In 1972, the family moved to Middle Point, Ohio, where they resided until moving to Joplin, Missouri, in 2012 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. After her move to Joplin, Phyliss became active in the Newcomers Club and established many lasting friendships.
Phyliss spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and caring for the needs of her husband and children, as family was her purpose in life and her servant heart made that most evident. Phyliss had a love for the beauty of the Great Lakes, her dogs, and her garden full of peonies, lilac bushes and roses. She displayed her artistic abilities through her craft of quilting, sewing and creating ceramic pieces. Her artistic expressions were even made visible by her classy appearance and her detailed jewelry and clothing coordination. She enjoyed all holidays—everything from shopping for the perfect decorations to bringing the family together for those very special times—and her love of Elvis Presley and the Gatlin Brothers will always be remembered. Phyllis also had a passion for capturing memories through photos and those photos are left for her family to admire.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jeffrey Daniel Cronenwett; two brothers, Barry and Larry Aldred; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Daniel G. Cronenwett, of the home; two children, Donna Cronenwett and Brian Cronenwett and wife, Jennifer, all of Loma Linda, Missouri; three grandchildren, Corbin Robert Cronenwett, Zachary David Cronenwett (Brian and Jennifer), and Daniel Francis Cronenwett (Jeffery) of Decatur, IN; two brothers, Gary Aldred and wife, Vicki, of Ortonville, Michigan, and Clarence Aldred of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, in Michigan.
The family will hold a memorial mass for Phyliss at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Joplin, MO, with Father J. Friedel officiating.
