Jean Marlene Whited, age 79 of Joplin, Missouri went to her heavenly home on Monday, October 23, 2017 at her home.
Jean was born March 21, 1938 in Joplin to the late Alva Duane Grey and Mary Alice Hargrove Grey. She was a homemaker, always taking care of her family. Jean was an avid country music fan, even operating Cactus Jack's Opry with her husband for many years. She was always the last to turn the lights out at the Cactus Jack's Opry. Jean was a collector of several things such as owls, cookie jars and many dolls. Years past, Jean made wedding cakes for several friends and family. She attended Servants Church in Webb City until health kept her from being able to attend.
On June 24, 1955, she married Jack Leon Whited in Miami, Oklahoma, he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include sons, Jack "Mike" Whited and wife, Cathy, James "Mark" Whited and wife, Shirley; daughter, Jeanne "Sue" Murdock and husband, Wayne, all of Joplin; daughter in-law, Giselle Scott of Seneca; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild; 4 siblings, all out of state.
Other than her parents, Jean is preceded in death by a son, Richard Whited.
Graveside services are planned for Friday, October 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery, Joplin, with Rev. Chad DeGonia, officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
