James Michael Vinsant, 67, of Pierce City went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Friday October 27, 2017 while at his home in Pierce City. He was born in Portalis, New Mexico on August 28, 1950; the son of the lat James Robert and Peggy Mary (Keigley) Vinsant. He was united in marriage on April 3, 1969 in Harrison, Arkansas to Melly Huffman; she survives.
He was retired from the United States Army having served his country during both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He was of Baptist faith and his hobbies included drag racing, muscle cars, watching racing and was tender hearted towards animals with a special love for cats.
James is survived by one son: Nathan Vinsant of Pierce City; one daughter: Pamela Hyer of Pierce City; one sister: Molly Logan of Carthage; two granddaughters: Christine DeMarr and Tara Kingrey; and five great-grandchildren: Feliciti, Cooper, Rhythm, Lilliana, and Izzabella.
Visitation for James is being held on Wednesday November 1, 2017 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Funeral services are being held on Thursday November 2, 2017 at 2:00p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett, Missouri with Rev. Bob Holman officiating. Burial will follow services at the Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett, Missouri.
Memorial donations for James may be made to Avalon Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri.
