Glenda Jane Lankford Fetter of Joplin, Missouri, entered into eternal rest; surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 3:08 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
Glenda was born on December 5, 1937 in Miami, Oklahoma, to Glenn and Julia Gamble Lankford of rural Seneca, Missouri. She was the first of seven children in the Lankford household and would be loved all her life as their beautiful big sister.
She grew up among her many Lankford cousins out on the prairie near the old Dessa Store, southeast of Seneca and attended Westview School. She grew up attending services at the Swars Prairie Church of Christ.
Glenda graduated from Seneca High School in 1955 and attended Joplin Business School, where she completed a course of study to become a professional secretary. She worked as secretary to the Principal of Westview School in rural Newton County in the late 1960’s to early 1970’s. She also worked many years as secretary to the Newton County Commissioners in the court house in Neosho in the mid 1970’s to early 1990’s. Glenda is a member of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma where she worked as Gift Shop Manager for a number of years.
Glenda married Harold Fetter on April 8, 1986 and they have lived in the Joplin and Seneca areas throughout their 31 years of marriage. Together they have loved and enjoyed their children, Rick, Jackie, Mike, Dan and their families. Glenda or Grammy, loved spoiling her grandsons, Skyler and Payton and her grand-puppy, Shadow. Their great grandchildren, Gibson and Logan, born to grandson, Skyler, were a joy to her through her recent years of failing health.
She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and she and Harold attended the congregation located on 20th Street in Joplin.
She is survived by her husband Harold and their children, son, Rick Hancock and wife, Tina of Seneca; daughter, Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Hancock Rawlins of Seneca; Mike Fetter of Las Vegas, NV and Dan Fetter of Cross Plains, TN. Grandsons, Skyler Rawlins and wife, Christin of Neosho and Payton Rawlins of Nevada; great grandchildren, Gibson Rawlins and his baby sister, Logan; her siblings, Carolyne Lankford Niles of Franklin, TN; Jerry Lankford and wife, Diane of Joplin; Julie Lankford Olds and husband, Dustin of Miami, OK and Doug Lankford and wife, Gena of Miami, OK; fourteen nieces and nephews and an innumerable host of loving family members and friends.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Julia; her sister, Barbara Ann Mullin; brother, Stephen Ray Lankford and her first husband, George Hancock.
