Charles Scott Wilson, age 81 of Oronogo, Missouri passed away Sunday October 15, 2017.
He was born March 1, 1936 in Lamar, Missouri to Charles and Martha (Potter) Wilson.
Charles served in the United States Marines. He worked as a news boy for the Joplin Herald then he became a paper carrier for the Joplin Globe and had a 52 mile route. He worked with the Los Angeles County, California Sheriff’s Department. While working at the Sheriff’s Department he attended night school to pursue his law degree. He passed the bar and worked as an attorney for the police department. He was appointed to the bench and served as a judge in Bakersfield, California for 20 years.
He married Evelyn Davis on January 9, 1955 and she survives. Charles is also survived by one son, Chris Scott Wilson, Paris, Texas; four daughters, Cheryl Ann Ashton, Hollister, California, Deborah Jean Wilson, Santa Clarita, California, Barbara Lynn Wilson, Bakersfield, California, Stephanie Ruth Cawler and husband Landon, Neck City, Missouri; two brothers, Gene Wilson and wife Joan, Oronogo, Missouri, Dave Wilson and wife Myna, Hornbrook, California; one sister, Jane Wilson, Briarbrook, Missouri; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Bedah Wilson.
Graveside services with full military honors will be 2:00 pm Monday October 23, 2017 at the Mt Hope Cemetery open air chapel with Mike Giesert minister officiating. The family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 pm on Sunday October 22, 2017 at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home.
