Martha Raye Jones, age 76, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Communities of Wildwood after a lengthy illness.
Martha was born April 21, 1941 in Seneca, Missouri, daughter of the late Ray Calvin Alderson and Ethel Emma Middleton Alderson. She graduated from Seneca High School, and was a lifelong resident of this area. She worked for the Jasper County Juvenile Detention Center as a Superintendent for many years, retiring in 2002.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Ray Barnett, and her faithful furry companion, Midge.
Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Goad and husband Paul of Joplin, Susan Weddle and husband Albert of Fort Scott, Kansas; grandchildren, Mindi Harper and husband Zack of Webb City, Dalton Weddle and Shiann Weddle both of Fort Scott; great-grandchildren, Jude and Zaidin; sister, Diane Melton and husband Andy of Asbury, Missouri; uncle, Odell Middleton and wife Margaret of Deerfield, Washington, niece, Stacy Welch of Joplin; nephew, Bob Stafford of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Graveside services will be Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Seneca Cemetery with family and friends officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
