Twyla Maurine Tadlock Berkley Dunn was born March 25, 1922 in Carthage, MO. Her parents, Guy and Lula Tadlock, and her two sisters, Velma and Joan, preceded her in death.
Before World War II she married Bob Berkley. They had one child, Keith. Bob was killed overseas and is interred in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carthage.
On April 25, 1947, she married Richard Dunn, who was with Southwestern Bell Telephone. This marriage lasted 60 years, until Richard passed away in 2007. They had three children: Sally, Valerie, and Tad.
Two of her children preceded her to Heaven, Keith at age 12 and Sally at age 26.
Twyla excelled as a wife and mother. She was a special friend to those needing comforting. She gave of herself generously as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, taught Sunday school and Bible School, took E.M.T. Training, volunteered at the Hospital and the Library, and taught language to aspiring citizens. She played five instruments as an active member of the Carthage Community Band for many years and in “The Golden Oldies” ensemble that entertained at area events and Senior Centers. She sometimes appeared at rest homes to play piano and sing. Her artistic talents included oil and watercolor painting, ceramics, and stained glass. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
Twyla was released into the Lord’s arms on Friday, October 13, 2017. She leaves behind her daughter, Valerie (Dunn) Earl and husband, Gary, of Jasper, and a son, Tad (and Dana) Dunn, of Carthage; three grandchildren, Levi Earl, of Carthage, Melanie (Earl) Replogle and husband, Dale, of Springfield, and Casey Jo (Earl) Kellner and husband, Ben, of Springfield; and six great-grandchildren, Drew, Dane, Luke and Lillian Replogle, and Grace and William Kellner.
A private family blessing will be held at Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Carthage Public Library in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
