Leslie Martin

Mr. Leslie Leon “Goose” Martin, 74, a forty-three year resident of Noel, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday evening, October 17, 2017, in the comfort of his daughter’s home in Joplin, Missouri, after months of declining health.

Leslie entered this life on June 30, 1943, in Stella, Missouri, son of the late George and Lela (Littlefield) Martin. He was raised and attended school in Anderson, Missouri. On April 19, 1968, in Neosho, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Jean Hammack and to this union three children were born. He was employed by Hudson Foods for twenty-eight years as a truck driver, retiring in 2012, after driving for over fifty-five years. While driving for Hudson he won the Safe Driver Award every year for twenty years. His passions in life were his beautiful grandchildren, his beloved dog, fishing, truck driving, St. Louis Cardinal baseball, Kentucky Wildcat basketball and being ornery any chance he got.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Jean Martin of the home; three children, Danna Martin and Jody Stidham, of Hiwasse, Arkansas, Heather Frossard and husband, Tony, of Joplin, Missouri and Brent Martin and wife, Angela, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Clint Frossard, Morgan Frossard, Shannon Stidham-Thorpe, Payton Frossard, Maddy Newman, Jordyn Martin, Ryder Martin and Dalton Newman; two great grandchildren, Sophia and Chase Thorpe; a brother, JL Martin of Anderson, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Jane Collins of Noel, Missouri; in laws, Cheryl and Danny Leonard of Bella Vista, Arkansas and David Hickey of Noel, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Martin are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017, in the Noel Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with JR Morgan and Larry Hendren officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Mercy Hospital as well as Mercy Hospice for their exceptional care during this time.
