Deloris Ann Shewmake was born September 21, 1943 in Granby, Missouri, the daughter of Terrel and Helen (Largen) Sims. She entered into rest on October 20, 2017 at her home, following an illness.
Deloris was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Granby High School in 1961. She had worked at Buddy L; Honeybear Foods, Tyson Foods, the Joplin Globe and the Neosho Daily News. Her hobbies included collecting angels and Wexford ware and mostly spending her time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Granby Gospel Tabernacle Church.
Deloris married Lawrence Shewmake and he preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by five children, Steven Allen Murray and wife, Katie of Neosho; Danette Whitman of Granby; Lora Murray of Granby; Lawrence Shewmake, II of Granby and Terrell Shewmake and, husband, Thafer of Houston, Texas; step children, Connitta Hess and husband, Matt of Marysville, CA; Stephen Shewmake and wife, Barbara Pierce City; Ryan Coker and wife, Heidi of Chico, CA and Robin Coker of Wake Forrest, NC; one brother, Terry Sims and wife, Brenda of Neosho; two sisters, Cheryl Fazel and husband, Tom of Wichita, KS and Shirley Castiaux and John of Cookeville, TN; eighteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Sims.
Services for Deloris will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017 at 2 pm at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby, Pastor Seldon Harris will officiate. Interment will follow in the Granby Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Granby from 6 to 7 pm.
