Loren J. Hill, age 73, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at his home after a lengthy illness.
Loren was born March 7, 1944 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, son of the late John S. Hill and Mildred L. Williams Hill. He grew up in Pryor, Oklahoma, before moving to Joplin where he graduated from Joplin High School
He worked for Bruce Williams Lab a few years before beginning his own company, Lor-Mar Drilling in 1972. He worked in several states throughout his career, and retired in 1993, moving to Florida. He was an avid bass angler, and golfer, and enjoyed his time in Florida. He was always an entrepreneur at heart, and returned to Joplin in 2004 where he started several different business adventures. Loren was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sidney Ann Hill.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Margie; son, John Hill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Lori Hill of Joplin; grandchildren, Emily Taylor and husband Grant of Joplin, Cheyenne Hill of Pierce City, Missouri, Harley Hill of Bristow, Oklahoma, and Sydney Hill of Joplin.
Graveside services will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery with Dr. Phillip McClendon officiating.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
