William C. Holdeman, 84, Carthage, MO, passed away early Friday morning, October 20, 2017 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage. William “Bill” Charles Holdeman was born on May 30, 1933 in Joplin, MO to the late Carl E. Holdeman and Goldean A. (Turner) Holdeman. He graduated from Kansas City Southeast High School, Class of 1951. Bill worked for Western Electric two years, then two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He worked four more years at Western Electric and then worked 29 years for the Federal Aviation Agency, retiring in 1988. Much of his work experience was as an electronics/computer instructor and technician. Bill married Shirley Frickenschmidt on December 29, 2001 and they had 16 wonderfully happy years together; she survives. They both attended the Sunday evening service at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage. Bill enjoyed auto repair, computers, and Bible study. He was graciously given an avid interest in and love for the persona and activities of the Holy Trinity.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, and children from a previous marriage: one son, David E. Holdeman (wife Jamie), Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Susan K. Graham (husband Martin), Overland Park, KS, and Erin E. Olsen (husband Ryan), Olathe, KS; six grandchildren, Jennifer Gaetan, Jessica Sernach, Ryan Holdeman, Heather Graham, Mindy Graham, and Meredith Olsen; and three great grandchildren, Yannick Gaetan, Brianna Gaetan, and Nova Rae Holdeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held 1-2 pm, Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2 pm. Minister James Taylor will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Fasken Cemetery, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to Fairview Christian Church or Over Sixty Center in care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W.
