Charles M. ‘Charlie’ Davis, 77, Neosho, entered into heavenly rest on Oct. 28, 2017 at his home in Neosho, surrounded by his loving family.
Charlie was born April 21, 1940 in Clantonville, Arkansas, the son of Walter D. and Pansy M. (Snoderly) Davis. He lived most of his life in the southwest Missouri area and had worked for the City of Neosho as a meter reader for 25 years, retiring in 2010. Charlie had a great sense of humor and could crack a joke at the drop of a hat. He loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to holiday dinners knowing his girls would fix his favorite dishes, especially sweets. He loved pitching horseshoes and riding motorcycles, he was a very competitive croquet player and in his youth was a boxer. He loved plants, flowers and wind chimes and was a marble collector. He was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Neosho.
Charlie and Jo Ann Cargile were married on June 10, 1959 in Barry County, Missouri and she survives. Additional survivors include three daughters, Barbara Whitehill and husband, Steve; Becky Judd and husband, Danny and Janice Drake, all of Neosho; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and a brother in law, Jim Cargile.
Services will be Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at 10 am at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Pastor Ken Robinson will officiate. Interment will be in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation Tuesday evening at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 6 to 7 pm. Contributions in memory of Charlies may be made to the Newton County Cancer Council, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
