Cathy Turney

Mary Catherine ‘Cathy’ Turney, 58, Rogers, Arkansas, formerly of Neosho, died on January 30, 2016, following a long and courageous battle with colon cancer, since June, 2014. 

She was born November 9, 1957 in Stella Missouri, the daughter of Carl and Jewell (Hoover) Charlton. Cathy lived most of her life in Neosho, moving to Rogers, Arkansas in 2013. She graduated from Neosho High School and had worked at Crowder Industries in Neosho. Following that, she worked as an office manager for Simmons Foods for twenty years. Cathy then went to work at the former Southwest Support Services and New Visions, where she worked with the developmentally disabled and then worked as a cashier at Lowe’s. Cathy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and especially baking with them. She was baptized in December and was a member of the Church of Christ on 13th Street in Rogers. 

Cathy married Jon Stonecipher on October 7, 1980 in St. John Virgin Islands and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1981. She and Leslie ‘Les’ Turney were married on June 19, 2008 in Neosho, and he survives. Additional survivors include a daughter Deana Stonecipher-Gilreath and husband, Robert of Rogers; step-daughters, Callie Turney-Tanner and husband, Tyler and Chanoah Turney, all of Neosho; three granddaughters, Hailey Stonecipher, Kayla Gilreath, both of Rogers and Laylah Tanner of Neosho; four grandsons, Jonathan and Blake Smith of Rogers and Jaxon and Gage Tanner of Neosho; her former mother-in-law, June Stonecipher McKim and husband, Ken of Lanagan; her mother-in-law, Stephanie Turney of Neosho; siblings, Judy Bach and Carla Lankford and husband, Howard, all of Neosho, Janice Rongey and husband, David of Fayetteville, AR, Pete Charlton and wife, Sharon of Ft. Smith, AR, and Ruth Farrell and husband, Ted of Joplin and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and spouse, Cathy is preceded in death by a brother, Joe Charlton and brother-in-law, Paul Bach.
