Gloria Pauline Baker Carter, age 91, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019, at her home in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Gloria was born November 17, 1927, in Carthage, Missouri, daughter of the late George L. Baker and Alma Pritschau Baker. She graduated from Duenweg High School and married Charles J. Carter on July 31, 1948, in Bentonville, Arkansas. She had a strong faith, and this was instilled in her children. She was a longtime member of Forest Park Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Charles, who passed away on March 11, 2002.
Survivors include her children, Cynthia Howard of Andalusia, Alabama, and Craig Carter (Lee) of Lynn Haven, Florida; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kirby of Mobile, Alabama, Zac and Abby Carter both of Lynn Haven.
Funeral service will be Sunday, January 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with her children, The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Howard and The Rev. Craig Carter officiating.
Interment will be Monday, January 21, 2019, in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Lynn Haven United Methodist Church Re-Building Fund, or St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Andalusia, Alabama.
