Darlene Britton

(From Fohn Funeral Home)

Born in Staten Island, NY on May 17, 1943, Darlene was the daughter of the late Robert and Katherine Riggio. Upon her graduation, she married the late Douglas M. Burrell.

After his death, she married the late James Britton and relocated from New Jersey to Purdy, MO. She was blessed by the love of two exceptional men. At the time of her passing on May 8, 2020 to Heaven, she resided in Wentworth, MO.

Darlene was predeceased by her son, Robert Burrell and her grandson, William D. Gregory.

She graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Ocean County College; and practiced for many years until her retirement. She was accomplished in the needle arts and domestic arts, and many of her works are cherished by her family and friends. She was known for her generous nature, often giving away items in her home that a visitor admired, throughout her life. Her Christmas baking and Halloween parties were enjoyed by many family members and friends.

She is survived by her brother, Robert Riggio (Lee) of Oswego, NY; her daughter, Darlene Gregory of Corpus Christi, TX; her son, Douglas Burrell (Petra) of Conroe, TX; Donna O’Hagan of Monett, MO, and Sean Burrell (Denise) of Wentworth, MO. She is also survived by Lynn Burrell, her daughter-in-law, of Bayville, NJ. Sean and Denise lovingly cared for her during her lengthy illness and ensured she passed in her home, as was her wish.

Darlene was blessed with several grandchildren, Alexander Gregory, Allison Burrell Cook, Katy Burrell, Austin and Eliana Burrell, Shamus, Killian, Quinlan, Justice and Holly O’Hagan, and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom adore their “Grammy”.

The family celebrated her birthday on Sunday, May 3. When asked if she wanted cake or was too tired, she replied “I’m never too tired for cake!”. Classic Mom.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am, on Sunday, May 17, her actual birthday, at the home of Sean and Denise Burrell, 31495 Foliage Road West, Wentworth, MO.

The family wishes to thank Kassidy Frost for her loving care of our mom during her illness. In lieu of flowers, please send you donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her memory.

Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri.
