Jim Robinson

James Allen “Jim” Robinson of Joplin, Missouri passed from this life on Sunday May 17, 2020 at his home, he was 76.

Jim was born on August 5, 1943 in Quaker Valley, Kansas to Herbert Allen and Gladys (Mundell) Robinson. Moving to Lowell when he was three, Jim lived in the area most of his life before moving to Joplin.

He graduated from Riverton High School with the class of 1961. He drove a truck for Yellow Freight for many years and retired from Yellow in 2000. He was also a youth minister for Tennessee Prairie Friends Church and Gateway Church for many years. Jim loved woodworking, yard work and going pickin’ with his wife. He also loved their dog Barney, pastoring, going to gun shows, and swap meets. He enjoyed raising cattle, Branson vacations and flipping houses. 

Jim married his high school sweetheart Sue (Wittenmyer) on September 28, 1963 in Riverton, Kansas, she survives of the home.








Jim is survived by a son Todd Robinson and wife Donna of Riverton, Kansas and a daughter Angie Thomure of Joplin, Missouri. He is also survived by four grandchildren Trista King, Jordan Robinson, Chase Thomure and Kendra McCloud. Also, six great grandchildren Trey Robinson, Caleb King, Jaydin Gilstrap, Easton McCloud, Brody Thomure and Jetta Sue McCloud.

Jim is preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Funeral service for Jim will be 10:00am Thursday May 21, 2020 at the Tennessee Prairie Friends Church south of Galena. Jim will lie in state at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs, Kansas from 8:00am – 4:00pm on Wednesday for those who wish to pay their respect and sign the book.
