Gaye Baldwin

Carmen “Gaye” Baldwin, 78 of Nevada, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Gaye was born on March 26, 1942 in Nevada to Robert ”Daddy Bob” and Imogene (Tough) Howell.

On December 29, 1962 she was married to Mark L. Baldwin in Nevada and he preceded her in death on April 23, 2014. Gaye grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School. She attended college at Kansas State University before returning home to Nevada. She worked several years at the J.C. Penney Store in Nevada in her younger years. 

In 1969 Gaye and Mark purchased the Brophy Monument Company in Nevada where she worked side by side with her husband operating the business for 46 years before her son Mark W. took over in 2015. 

Her interests included spending time with her husband, two sons, and her grandkids. Gaye was creative and very good at arts and crafts. She loved gardening, collecting antiques, drinking a Coke every day, buying lottery tickets, spending time at home on their farm, and following Kansas City Royals Baseball. One of her favorite pastimes was going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.








Survivors include two sons, Mark W. Baldwin,(Penny), Nevada and Kevin Baldwin(Shelly), Nevada, seven grandchildren, Bridget Merryfield (Jesse), Butler, MO, Afton Smith (Kenny), Tulsa, OK, Austin Baldwin (Alesha Laning), Sheldon, MO, Carolyne Baldwin, Hollywood, CA, Ethan Baldwin ( Lori), Nevada, Lindsay Baldwin, Lamar, MO, and Velvyt Baldwin, Nevada, eight great grandchildren, Jase, Macy, Reese, Mabry, Caiden, Sophia, McCoy, and Gatlin, and a great granddaughter due in August, one sister, Claudia Whitman, Violet Hill, AR, and one brother, Mike Howell (Shelia), Nevada, and three nephews, James Wheat, Colby Williams, and Trevor Howell.

In addition to her husband Mark, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 pm on Tuesday evening, at Ferry Funeral Home

Those who wish may contribute in her memory to the Moore Cemetery Association c/o Ferry Funeral Home.

***Beginning on May 4th there will no longer be a statewide limitation on the number of people attending funerals or visitations, however those in attendance will be asked to maintain social distancing, and that people are welcome to and, indeed, are encouraged to wear face mask to protect themselves and others.
