Glenn Kirby

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Glenn W. Kirby was born September 4, 1931 in Monmouth, Illinois, one of ten children to Ora Albert and Goldie (Wells) Kirby. He entered into rest on May 16, 2020 in Seneca, following one month of declining health at the age of 88.

Following graduation from high school, Glenn entered into the U. S. Navy where he served from 1949 to 1953. He lived in California where he worked for Rocketdyne and was transferred to Neosho in 1958. He worked at Rocketdyne - Teledyne for 40 years before retiring.

While working at Rocketdyne-Teledyne, he served as president of the local UAW 1070 for 18 years, a position he was extremely proud of. Following retirement from Teledyne, Glenn drove a bus for the Neosho Public School system for 10 years and then worked as an aide on the bus for the handicapped students for ten years, working until the age of 84. He enjoyed going to the park and feeding the animals and enjoying nature.

Glenn was a very patriotic man and flew the American Flag from his porch daily. He was a member of the VFW and the Masonic Lodge.

Glenn and Valerie Ann (Schmidt) were married on Nov. 28, 1953 and shared 66 years together.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie of the home; two daughters, Trudi Kirby of Orlando, Florida and Angela Kirby-Martin of Neosho; one sister, Melba Twomey of Roseville, Illinois; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
