William E “Jake” Jacoby, age 83, passed away at 5:27 pm, Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Via Christi Hospital, Pittsburg, KS following an illness.
Jake was born December 29, 1936 in Huntsville, MO. His parents were William Jacoby and Maggie May (Toules) Jacoby. He was raised in Moberly, Missouri and had moved to Pittsburg 3 years ago from Neosho, MO.
He served in the US Army for 2 years. He worked several years as a butcher, and then began laying carpet after his retirement. He enjoyed raising cattle and cutting wood.
Surviving is his companion of 18 years, Fileda S Cole, of the home; one son, Michael Jacoby, Winfield, KS; one daughter, Shelly, Arkansas; 5 step-children, Lesa McCormick, Scammon, KS, Tammy Reagan, Pittsburg, KS, Robert Brumback, Girard, KS, Loretta Shook, Pittsburg, KS, and Woody Cole, Frontenac, KS; one brother, Wilbur Jacoby, Texas City, TX; two sisters, Ruth Hagg, Ft Smith, AR, and Florence Pross, Branson, MO; 5 grandchildren, 14 step-grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Marty Jacoby and siblings, Gennie Sparkles, Jolla Huntsman, Jimmy Jacoby, Sible Jacoby, and Dorothy Frency.
Jake was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus, KS for cremation. No services are planned.
