Mildred Ellen Flippo, 97, passed away May 11, 2020 at St Luke’s Nursing Center. Mildred was born August 3, 1922 in Seneca, MO to Joseph Franklin Slater and Lorena May “Clark” Slater. She was a lifetime Carthage resident and a nurse’s aide for 28 years. Mildred attended the Fellowship Baptist Church of Carthage.
Mildred was married to Coy Mitchell May 18, 1940; he preceded her in death February 14, 1970. Mildred then married Robert Flippo in 1971; he preceded her in death April 26, 2015.
Mildred is survived by two daughters, Ronda K. Hakala and Carolyn Barlow both of Carthage; one son, Rex Mitchell of Carthage; 24 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred is preceded in death by one daughter, Loretta May Hendrix; one son, Coy Eugene Mitchell; one sister, Dorothy May Campbell; two brothers, Edward James Slater and Ronnie Joe Slater.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Park Cemetery.
