Butch Hembree

Larry “Butch” Hembree, age 76, Joplin, Missouri passed away Thursday April 4, 2024.

He was born February 10, 1948, in Neosho, Missouri to Paul and Delores “Dot” (Wren) Hembree.

Butch was a mechanical plumber for 35+ years at Satterlee Plumbing and a member of the Eagles Lodge, where he served as the Secretary, Chaplain, Vice President, and President. 






He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, avid pool player and riding his motorcycle. He was an amazing father, coach, mentor and leader and if you ever had a conversation with Butch be prepared to smile, laugh or hear his big belly laugh over one of his infamous jokes.

He married Carolyn Elizabeth Gilstrap on June 10, 1966. Butch is survived by his children, Robert Hembree (Gretta Terry), Rhonda Hembree (Dee Ann Marion), Reginald Hembree (Michelle Bates), Rechelle Hembree (Carrie Bechtold).

Butch married Judy Hemphill in 1989. Three stepchildren and two adopted sons survive. Phillip Camerer, Heide Stastny, David Camerer, Tyler Hollis & Karl Hembree.

He then married Patricia Hawkins in March 2007. Three stepchildren survive. George Evey, David Evey, and Sankey Evey.

Additional survivors include eight grandchildren, one great grandson, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Carolyn Elizabeth Hembree, second wife Judy Hembree, and two brothers, Rick Hembree and Shane McWilliams.

Those honoring his life serving as pallbearers are Noah Hembree, Preston Hembree, Carter Hembree, Hunter Embrey, Spencer Hembree, and Brady Hembree. Honorary pallbearers are Kaitlyn Hembree, Mason Hembree, Zurich Nguyen, Tyler Hollis and Karl Hembree.

Visitation will be at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, where the family will receive friends at 6:00pm – 7:00pm, on Tuesday April 9, 2024. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday April 10, 2024, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. A burial will follow at Burkhart Cemetery. The Joplin Eagles Lodge (832 South Main, Joplin, MO 64801) will host family and friends at 5pm on Wednesday, April 10th.
