Laurie Richey

Laurie Ellen ‘Vance’ Ritchey, age 75 of Webb City, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 in Ft. Worth, TX following a short illness. Laurie was born October 28, 1948 in North Bend, Oregon to the late Herman and Virginia (McGuirk) Avey.

Laurie graduated from Joplin High School with the class of 1968 and later received her associates degree at Missouri Southern State College. Most of her career was working in home health as well as The American Red Cross. 








Nothing was more precious than her family. Her faith in Christ was evident by her many years serving at Liberty Bible Mission Church in north Joplin, and in later years she has been faithfully attending Christpoint Church in Galena, Kansas.

Other than her parents, Laurie is preceded in death by her first husband, William R. Vance; granddaughter, Isabella Randall; step-son, David Ritchey and siblings, Pam Cabiness and Randy Avey.

Those surviving Laurie include her husband of 13 years, Terry Ritchey of the home; son, David Vance (Alisha) of Neosho; daughters, Julie Register of Joplin, Laura Laramore of Mt. Vernon, Dorothy Ritter (Nick) of Webb City; stepson, Jeremy Hood (Karren) of Joplin; stepdaughters, Teresa Patterson of Joplin, Penny Russell (Charlie) of Texas, Margie Winklemann (Scott) of Texas, Becky Ritchey, of Texas, Krista Dardenne (Dustin) of Kansas; brother, Phillip Avey (Brenda) of Joplin; sisters, Paulette Eby of Joplin, Debra Routledge (Jerry) of Joplin and Diane Cole (Cletus) of Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.








Family will receive friends on Monday, April 15th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 16th at 10:00 am at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with burial to follow at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary of Joplin, Missouri.
