Richard Kelley

Richard William Kelley, age 93 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at The Communities of Wildwood, following months of declined health. Richard was born March 19, 1931 in Rich Hill, Missouri to the late John and Hester Kelley.

After graduation of high school, Richard attended University of Missouri where he received his Master’s Degree in Agriculture and Biology. After becoming a Bio-Chemist, Richard worked for Stockade in Pittsburg, Kansas producing feed supplement for animals. Richard was also proud to be a part of the team to invent the first “light” beer with a company in Chicago, Illinois, stating that it was “nasty."








Other than his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Dees Kelley, passing in December of 2006; as well as all of his brothers and sisters.

Surviving Richard is his son, Stuart Kelley and wife, Dara of Pittsburg, Kansas and a granddaughter, Amanda Kelley of the Kansas City area.








No services are planned and inurnment of ashes will take place at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the mortuary.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary of Joplin, Missouri.
