(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Wilfred Anderson “Buddy” Norwood, Jr., 83, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Buddy was born June 27, 1941, in Union, Missouri, son of Wilfred and Creta (Hern) Norwood. He will be remembered fondly for his sense of humor and lifelong devotion to his family and community. Buddy was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.
Buddy attended Carthage High School, graduating in 1959. He enjoyed many class reunions with friends over the years. He retired from Carthage Water and Electric Company in 2003, after 35 years of service. He was also an active member of the knights of Pythias in Carthage for several decades.
Buddy married Sylvia May “Susie” Ball on October 6, 1962. They enjoyed over 62 years together until her passing in December of 2024. He is survived by two sons and their families: Jerry Norwood (Sheila) of Carthage, Missouri, and Lance Norwood of Joplin, Missouri. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren and one step-grandchild: Eric Norwood (Kylee) of Stotts City, Scott Norwood of Carthage, Leighton Norwood of Joplin, and Lexi McDaniel (Andrew) of Carl Junction. Buddy’s great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart: Kynlee, Ty, and Ellee Norwood of Stotts City and Knox McDaniel of Carl Junction. He is also survived by one brother, Larry Norwood (Diana) of Duncanville, Texas; sisters-in-law Jacque Ball of Jasper, Janice Clements (Lyle) of Jasper, Jeanie Crocker of Carthage, Cathy Long of Nevada, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Norwood; his parents, Wilfred and Creta Norwood; and brothers-in-law Thomas Ball and Jim Crocker.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri.
