Johnny Hembree
(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)Johnny Howard Hembree, of Greenfield, MO, departed this life on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO at the age of 83.
He was born on October 11, 1941 to Howard Percy and Vernice Opal (Marshall) Hembree. Johnny graduated from Greenfield High School. He owned and operated Hembree’s Plumbing Service. Johnny was member and a Disciple of the Main Street Baptist Church. He led as an instructor the Royal Ambassadors at Main Street Baptist Church. Johnny was an avid hunter and fisherman. At one time, he was an announcer on the radio for the prominent fishing spots and fishing tips.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Howard and Vernice Hembree.
Survivors include his daughter, Christine Hembree of Everton, MO; his son, Wayne Hembree of Greenfield, MO; one sister, Sue Allison and husband Gary of Flemington, MO; one brother, Joe Hembree and wife Patsy of Arcola, MO; two grandchildren, James Patrick Olsen and Jonathan Olsen; two great-grandchildren, A.J. and Quentin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Stockton Lake Managed Deer Hunt for those that are mobility-impaired hunters. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
