(From Clark Funeral Home)Kay “Michelle” Pogue Smith was born in Neosho, Missouri on December 7, 1966. She passed away peacefully knowing her Savior, Jesus Christ, & knowing she was loved by her family & friends. She was the beloved first born daughter of George Joner Pogue Jr. and the late Gloria “Kay” Fitzgerald Pogue.
Michelle was a student in the Neosho School District until her freshman year. Over Christmas break, the family moved to a farmhouse outside of Carthage. Michelle graduated from Carthage High School in 1985.
While she completed a clerical certification program through Draughan Business College, her true gift was caring for others in the skilled care field. Michelle’s greatest role was as a devoted homemaker. On December 8, 1994, she married the love of her life, Kirk Smith, who survives her. Together they built a life full of love, devotion, laughter, and family.
Michelle had a compassionate & caring spirit along with a warm heart. She loved to sing and never passed up the chance to do karaoke out in an establishment & even privately at home. She enjoyed reading, playing board, card & dice games, & watching reality tv shows like Pit Bulls & Parolees. What brought her the most happiness & joy was spending time with her family & friends. She thoroughly enjoyed & looked forward each year to the family gathering at Table Rock Lake in Shell Knob, MO.
