Fred Warden

Freddie D. Warden Sr., age 81, Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 9:05 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Freeman Hospital after a short illness.

Fred was born September 8, 1939 in Saginaw, Missouri to the late Minford ‘Mick’ and Alice Warden. Fred was a local racing legend and a member of the Joplin Elks lodge.

Fred worked for Eagle Picher Industries for over 30 years. He was an active member of the union, also serving as president. After retirement he spent his time working on lawn mowers. He was an avid bowler all the way up to the time of his illness.

He married Wynona Yarbrough on February 19, 1958 in Saginaw, Missouri.








In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie; and a sister, Dorothy Knowlton.

Fred is survived by his wife, Wynona; four children, Cheryl Hummel and husband, Danny, of McKinney, Texas, Junitta Wise and husband, Willie, of Joplin, Fred Warden Jr. and wife, Linda, of Joplin; sisters, Shirley White, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Judy Swager of Joplin. He has six grandchildren, Brandon Phillips and wife, Desiree, Lindsey Thompson and husband, Jeremy, Alicia Smith and husband, Shawn, Ty Warden and wife, Alexa, Rexanna Warden, and Andrew Hummel; seven great-grandchildren, Austin Smith, Addy Smith, Parker Smith, Savanna Phillips, Daniel and Aria Thompson, and Micah Warden; many nieces and nephews.

An outdoor celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 12:15 p.m. at Saginaw Cemetery. Food and fellowship will immediately follow at the Barndominium at Saginaw Highland Ranch. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
