Born on April 29th, 1940 in Lackawanna, New York to the late Albert and Catherine (Kosek) Skrzypek, Michael discovered a passion for woodworking and all things mechanical at a young age. Michael found joy and fulfillment in every project he undertook. His shop was his sanctuary, where creativity flowed freely and where he imparted invaluable skills and wisdom to those fortunate enough to learn from him.

Michael's dedication to his craft was matched only by his love for his family. Michael married the love of his life, Daphne ‘Dee’ Stephens-Skrzypek on May 27th, 1964 in Knob Noster, Missouri. To this union two children were born: Albert Michael and Katherine Ruth. After time spent in Arcade, New York, they moved to Pineville, Missouri where they would spend the rest of their days.

Carol Hipple

(From Parker Mortuary)

Carol Ann Hipple, a faithful and loving servant of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on June 15, 2024, at the age of 81 in Carl Junction, Missouri. She was born on September 2, 1942, in Media, Pennsylvania, to the late Louis and Madeline (Cronkite) Gagnon.

Carol was an amazing mother, wife, grandmom, mother-in-law, aunt, sister, cousin, niece and friend. Her life has been a living testimony to the unconditional love she has for her family, her friends, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In every aspect of her life, Carol exemplified kindness. Her impact on this world has been profound, and the memories of her selfless love will continue to inspire everyone who knew her. While Carol achieved many things throughout her life, one of her greatest roles was her service to her local church. Over the commitment time of 45 years, Carol was involved in various ministries at Prairie Flower Bible Church including the Ladies Missionary Prayer Group, Awana Club, Vacation Bible School, Women’s Teaching and Bible Studies, and many other ministries.

Carol dedicated countless hours to other people her whole life. Her influence extended beyond her immediate circle, as she touched many lives through her kind and gentle nature. Whether it was one-on-one bible studies with numerous women over the years, counseling women in their marriage and parenting roles, serving women’s needs by chauffeuring them to countless appointments that they could not get to, volunteering her time to do ladies hair and nails in nursing homes, or comforting others as a sincere and compassionate hospice volunteer, Carol’s life exemplified service above self.

Her commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of those around her and her deep capacity for empathy and desire to support others in their time of need was not something she had to work at – it was just who she was in Jesus Christ. There was never a time her children or grandchildren could not go to her for advice or comfort or some well needed chastening, in any need or situation. Her ability to make us laugh and her beautiful, infectious smile, will never be forgotten. And the many “Carolisms” she left us with will keep us laughing in memory of her until we are united with her in Heaven! She was truly one of a kind.

Carol married John Hipple on May 4, 1963 in Media, PA and they had 3 children; Denise Neely (David) of Joplin, MO, Michelle Ferson of Carl Junction, MO, and John Hipple (Christy) of Joplin, MO. She instilled in them the importance of faith in Jesus Christ, a Truth they hold dear to this day. Carol's joy was multiplied through her grandchildren, Alyssa Neely, Coury Ferson, Megan Flores (William), Madeline Ferson, Noah Hipple, Caleb Hipple, and Lydia Hipple. Carol adored each of her grandchildren and enjoyed each moment she got to spend with them. She never passed up an opportunity to treat them to a round of mini golf, attend a movie, grab lunch or dinner, or her favorite activity—sharing a scoop of ice cream.

The anticipated arrival of a great-grandson in November marks a continuation of the family line she was so proud of. Carol’s legacy will live on in the heritage of her family that she has nurtured and impacted in more ways than she will ever know.

Carol is also survived by her brother, Fred Gagnon (Nora) of Vista, CA. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Hipple, and brother, Ronnie Gagnon.

Her Celebration of Life is planned for Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Prairie Flower Bible Church in Webb City, Mo. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO. The family invites friends out for a time of visitation at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Kathy Haralson

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Our rock. Our love. Our Kathy.

On Sunday, June 16, Kathy Lynn (Schmidt) Haralson went to be with her Lord and Savior. Born July 27, 1957, in Emporia, Kansas, she was the first child of Henry Francis and Patsy Jo “PJ” (Mason) Schmidt. She was a beautiful, ornery, brown-eyed girl, full of life and heart.

After four years, their family welcomed her sister Teri. Together, they were double trouble, swapping clothes, sharing stories, and yes, fighting over makeup in the bathroom.

Kathy loved to tease with her family and stayed up on Sunday nights to watch the “Sonny and Cher” show and iron her hair so she had the stick-straight look of the woman she saw on TV.

In 1980, she met the love of her life, who was a groomsman at her sister’s wedding. It was love at first sight, and 11 weeks later, October 4, 1980, they were married. In 1982, they had their first child, Abby Leigh, who she always referred to as her “angel.” The three of them had seven amazing years together when Garry finally convinced her to try for a second child. And nine months later, they were blessed with a perfect boy, Branden David. If Abby was “my angel,” Branden was, “my baby,” and the four of them were solidified as a family forever.

Work took them to Bolivar, where they spent six blissful years together. Abby finished High School there, they grew their friend groups as a family, and built their favorite home together. She was even asked to have it included in that year’s Christmas parade of homes tour, and you better believe every florist and home decor store in Southwest Missouri knew Kathy by name. But that was Kathy’s way, she knew how to make friends everywhere, and she knew how to make a house a home.

Eventually, they found their way back to Carl Junction, where the family reconnected with old friends and made new work connections. Branden finished High School and moved to Kansas City, and Abby started her career as a nurse. After a few years, Abby got married and gave Kathy the ultimate friend and playmate in her granddaughter, Kyleigh Larie.

Her children and granddaughter continued to spread their wings, making her even more proud than she could have ever dreamed. Kathy held many professional roles at many different places, choosing to focus in the healthcare field, making lifelong friends wherever she worked. She was a natural caretaker at home and professionally. After retirement, she reveled in her new role as our family’s activities director and Kyleigh’s personal manager. She finally got the pool she always wanted, and had many projects to look forward to where she could cast her creative magic.

She will be missed by those who loved her most: her husband, children, granddaughter, mother, sister, in-laws, nephews and nieces, lifelong friends and their children, as well as thousands of community members who all knew her big smile and warm heart extended far and wide.

We will mourn her forever, but our hearts are full of warmth and peace knowing she is no longer concerned for her health or longevity and has reaped the rewards of her faith in God. Thank you for every kind word, gracious gift, and prayer said to lift our family. We couldn’t possibly thank everyone for their contribution, but we will try with our gratitude as we continue to move forward as a family.

Kathy loved her beautiful flowers, so if you feel compelled to send flowers, she adored The Curly Willow and The Wild Flower in Joplin, Missouri. If you would prefer to memorialize Kathy in a different way, please consider donations to the Joplin Humane Society or the Bright Futures Fund of Carl Junction, two causes she loved dearly.

Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, June 22, at Joplin First Church, 501 West 4th Street, Joplin, MO 64801, with a visitation prior beginning at 10:00am.

Services in care of Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.

He also organized and led an annual pheasant hunt to South Dakota for friends and family for more than 30 years, resulting in many legendary stories of successful days in the field. In Carthage, he was known to have ready snacks for birds, turtles and neighborhood stray cats.

Steve also loved spending time at his second home, a farm he shared with his wife Mary Jean in Stowe, Vermont. While in Vermont he spent time in the woods and fields, watching the many birds, deer, turkeys and even a few bears that roamed the property.
