Stanley Baker

Stanley E. Baker of Duenweg, Mo. passed away on June 18th, 2024, at Freeman Hospital. Stanley was born to Merrill Baker and Barbara Henderson in Purcell, Mo. on July 11th, 1943.

He is preceded in death by his loving companion, Aldene Manes and one sister, Viva Dean Maxwell of Webb City, Mo. 

He is survived by one sister, Charlotte King and husband, Ronald of Joplin, Mo.; two sons, Richard Manes and wife Ruth of Joplin, Mo., Gary Manes and wife Kellie of Colorado; one daughter, Karen Walker and husband Jerry of Carthage, Mo., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and also many nieces and nephews.








Stanley worked for over 43 years at Ford Motor Company earning Ford Master’s Degree Technician, where he made many lifelong friends. Working for Ford Motors as a Senior Master Technician, Stanley was required to test over the years and always tested the highest. He won many trips and cruises, some including to the Bahamas, Cozumel and Hawaii. Coworkers shared how knowledgeable and smart he was and would read Ford manuals and brochures to pass on vast information about Ford Motors. As a Master Technician, he was required to take tests and earned 1st in the US numerous years.

Stanley enjoyed going to car shows in Kansas City over the years. He loved working on racecars and going to NASCAR races. Stanley also enjoyed the local dirt track races going to Joplin, Monett and Nevada. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time as well.

The family would like to recognize one special friend, Thelma Hill. Without her support and help, we would not have made it through this process.






Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 24th at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Visitation is 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery, Oronogo, Mo. Pallbearers are Jeff Walker, Stephen Walker, Phillip King, Zachary King, James Grant and Brendan Grant.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.

  1. I've know Mr Stan since 1979s. met him when Alex's father and I started dating. He was extremely knowledgeable and a very soft spoken friend with an infectious smile.
