Howard Brodie

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

Howard Lee Brodie left this world on June 20, 2024 at 9pm in his home, surrounded by family after battling a long fight with cancer. "Brodie" was born on November 5, 1956 in Neosho, to Virgil and Opal Pridemore Brodie. Brodie was raised in Joplin by Joe and Opal Pridemore Oberlechner, by his mom and step-dad. He attended Joplin Schools and later Franklin Votech.

Brodie was an avid Harley rider and mechanic his whole life. He spent all his time from age 15, working on and selling Harley motorcycles.

During the years of motorcycle work he met Peggy Fox. They married July 27, 1981. During their life together they lived in Neosho, Joplin and then finally settled in Pittsburg, KS. This is where Brodie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and of course building bikes. Over the years he enjoyed traveling across the country to swap meets and making new friends.

However, the last 10 years have been more about spending time with kids and grandkids. Through the years you never had to wonder what Brodie was thinking because he was a very straight forward person.

Brodie was loved by a lot of people and will definitely be missed by all. He was preceded in death by his daughter Katrina Brodie, granddaughter Ashley Wheeler, father Virgil Brodie; and step-dad Joe Oberlechner. He is survived by his wife Peggy Brodie; his beloved mother Opal Oberlechner; sisters Brenda Johnston and Debbie Whitehall; children William (Becky) Wheeler, Leslie Kirkpatrick and Lee Ann Brodie; grandchildren Tyler Wheeler, Nate Wheeler, George Wheeler, Devante Wheeler, Chyna Girth, Erin Kirkpatrick, Blaine Kirkpatrick, Stormie Smith, Jailynn Ragsdale; grandchildren, Lillyanna, Rowyn, Lynnleigh, Rozalynn, Waylon, Lyla, Ryler and baby boy Girth to-be.

A Visitation will be held Friday June 28th at 6:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday June 29th at 3:00pm at 464 E 580th Ave, Pittsburg, Kansas, 66762.

Services are under the personal care and direction of Simpson Funeral Home. The family encourages relatives and friends to visit www.simpsonfh.com to share photos and memories of Howard Lee.
