(From Knell Mortuary)Sandra Kay Lewis, affectionately known as Sandy, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at the age of 62, at her home in Carthage, Missouri. She was born on March 12, 1962, in Carthage, Missouri, to the late James Earl Lewis and Phyllis Mae (Youngkrantz) Lewis. Sandy was a lifelong resident of Carthage, where she cultivated a life filled with love, family, and cherished moments.
Sandy's life was defined by her role as a devoted mother and grandmother. She took great pride in raising her children, Crystal Robbins (Doug) of Oronogo, Charles Tandy of Carthage, Curtis Tandy (Mike) Palm Springs, Destiny Wichek (Ryan) San Diego, Trey Salter of Seneca. She loved taking her occasional trips to the casino, where she enjoyed the thrill of gambling.
However, nothing compared to the love she had for her grandchildren, Rex Robbins (Megan), Noah Robbins, Myah Tandy, and Levi Tandy, and her great- grandchild, Piper Robbins, with another on the way. She cherished every moment spent with them and embraced every opportunity to show them the depth of her affection. Sandy's heart was truly fulfilled when surrounded by her family. She is survived by her brother, James R. Lewis, and her sister Laura Still, both of Carthage. Sandy also leaves behind her longtime friend, John Galardo, who, along with many extended family members and friends, will miss her deeply.
Sandy was also preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Lewis, and her granddaughter, Alexis Tandy, who tragically passed a few hours before Sandy in Florida.
Per Sandy's wishes, there was cremation. A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at New Beginnings Outreach Church, Neck City, Missouri. Inurnment will follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Online Condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
