Gene was born November 15, 1932, in Granby, Missouri; the son of Allan Eugene Goade Sr. and Zetta (Baugh) Goade.

Gene grew up in Granby, Missouri and married the love of his life, Betty Maxine Shank, on November 1, 1951. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. After serving in the Navy, he returned to work on the Shank family farm in Granby, Missouri.

When he moved in 1989, he became an active and faithful member and deacon at Riverview Baptist in Osage Beach, Missouri until his passing. He had a kind and gentle soul who never met a stranger and always had a story or a joke or two to tell. He enjoyed life and having a good time, especially trying to make people laugh. He had a wide range of interests and activities including building birdhouses, hot air ballooning, fishing, and catching a nap or two during the day. He especially enjoyed cooking with a specialty of BBQ and was known as “the pitmaster”.
