Jim Price

(From Heartland Cremation and Burial Society)

James Bryan Price, 74, of Raytown, MO passed away January 21, 2025 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Memorial services will be at 3pm on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 2pm.

Jim was born at St. Luke’s in Kansas City, Missouri to James Ray Price and Barbara Schreier Price. He then moved to Joplin, Missouri and attended school, graduating from Joplin Senior High School in 1968.

His career in writing began that summer at the Joplin Globe Newspaper and he continued there as a reporter for eight years, while he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Missouri Southern State University.

He married Marcia Klein in 1973 after being introduced to her by the Managing Editor of the Joplin Globe. They moved to St. Louis as Jim went to work for Monsanto writing for their Corporate Communications Department while Marica completed her degree in Nursing. Jim stayed at Monsanto while Marcia completed an internship in critical care at Barnes Jewish Hospital and gave birth to their daughter.

Jim and Marcia moved to Kansas City with their infant daughter as Jim continued his career in Corporate Communications writing for Hallmark Cards, including presentations for the sales staff and going on to write speeches for Don Hall. Their son was born here and Jim continued writing for Hallmark for 17 years. During this time, he embarked upon earning his Masters at University of Missouri-Kansas City.

He then started his own boutique Communications consulting business, as well as devoting more time to his favorite endeavors of being a husband and father.

Jim’s interests were widely varied and his breadth and depth of knowledge knew no bounds. He was well known for his remarkable intellect; one has to be a reader to be a writer!

He was Cardiovascular Consultant’s first heart-kidney transplant recipient in 2005. Because of his bravery, St. Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute has been able to perform more surgeries like this.

His friends and family will always remember his outstanding sense of humor and infectious laugh. It’s truly been an honor to walk beside this gentleman and scholar for 51 years of enduring compassion and love.
