Robert Bricker

Robert Gerald Bricker, 73, passed away October 31, 2017 at his home in Carthage. Robert was born January 26, 1944 in Pittsburg, Kansas to James Robert and LaVaun Margaret “Irwin” Bricker. Robert was a longtime resident of Carthage and was employed by Flex-O-Lators as a tool & die maker for 20 plus years. He graduated from Carl Junction High School with the class of 1962. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Faith Life Worship Center in Carthage and a member of the NRA.

Robert was united in marriage to Charlotte Jackson in Carthage on May 11, 1968; she survives.

Robert is survived by two daughters, Paula Hammer (Derek) of Carthage and Pamela DePreste (James) of Joplin; one sister, Donna Martin and husband Larry of Joplin; four grandchildren: Alisha, Rianna, Makasha and Dakota; three great grandchildren: Amoura, Alexis and Lydia.

Robert is preceded in death by his adopted daughter, Tara Diane Bricker, who passed in 1999 and his step-father, Rulie Long.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Faith Life Worship Center. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to Faith Life Worship Center Parking Lot Fund, care of Ulmer Funeral Home.

Phillip Blankenship

Phillip Wayne Blankenship, 82, went to the land of milk and honey on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at his home surrounded by his five children. Phillip was born on March 22, 1935 in Carthage, Missouri to Leonard Harry Blankenship, Sr. and Fern Louise “Thomas” Blankenship. He was a lifelong resident of Carthage and worked as a salesman for over 40 years at M.C. Jackson’s and Rogers Office Products. He never really retired, but kept busy with several entrepreneurial endeavors until he took ill this past summer. It became apparent to his children over the summer how quietly he assisted those less fortunate than himself during his life. He always saw the best in everyone, discounting any undesirable attributes.

Phillip was united in marriage to Delores LaDene Hall on July 2, 1954 in Carthage, Missouri. They were married for 28 years and had five children.

Phillip is survived by one son, Thomas Wayne Blankenship; four daughters, Tia Marie Strait (Tom), Teresa Lynn Blankenship, Tonya Diane Blankenship and Trudy LaDene Blankenship, all of Carthage, Missouri; and one sister, Margaret JoAnne Faucett of Burlington, Kansas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Tara “Strait” Cross, Tristian Strait, Toby Buckner, Jessica Blankenship, Zachary Waggoner, Gabrielle Godinez, Victoria Palmer, Chelsea Blankenship, and Patrick Blankenship, as well as 13 great grandchildren.

Phillip was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers: Leonard Harry Blankenship, Jr. and David Harold Blankenship, and one sister, Mary Lou Gipson.

Phillip was dearly loved by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends who enriched his 82 years of life.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at First Church of the Nazarene in Carthage. Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at Ulmer Funeral Home.

Earl Noah

Earl D. Noah was born November 24, 1945 in Newton County, Missouri, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Wingrove) Noah. He entered into rest on October 31, 2017 in Neosho, following a sudden illness at the age of 71 years 11 months and 7 days. 

 Earl was a lifelong area resident and worked as a millright at Talbot Industries and retired following 35 years of service. 

 Earl and Charlotte (Willis) were married in 1970 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 2015. He is survived by two sons, Joshual Paul Noah and Nicholas Eugene Noah; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Karen Harper

Karen E. Harper, 70, of Pittsburg, died October 29, 2017 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS.

She was born January 18, 1947 in Girard, Kansas the daughter of Donald and Ada (Redfern Stacy) Sluder. 

Karen married William Harper on May 20, 1966 in Pittsburg, KS. He preceded her in death. She was employed by Pittsburg State University’s Physical Plant for 29 years. She retired in 2000.
Karen enjoyed gambling, bingo, crocheting and quilting. 

Survivors include 2 sisters; Vicki Volkman of Pineville, Missouri, Dawn Snyders of Cherokee, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 4 brothers; Jerry Sluder, Charles Sluder, Ronnie Sluder and Donnie Sluder and 3 sisters; Betty Gant, Sandy Mays, Tina Belfield.
A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be left to the S.E.K Humane Society; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.

Clara Laughlin

Mrs. Clara Loree Laughlin, 79, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas, from complications of a long illness.

Clara entered this life on November 21, 1937, in Rolla, Missouri, daughter of the late Russell and Minnie (Folgers) Moore. She was raised and attended school in Rolla, Missouri. On February 1, 1963, in Liberty, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Earl Dean Laughlin, Sr. and together they shard fifty-one years before his passing on August 3, 2014. In 1971 they moved their family to McDonald County Missouri. Besides being a homemaker, Clara worked for Sunbeam in Neosho, PRGX in Bentonville and the Wal-Mart Home Office also in Bentonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Dean Laughlin, Sr.; and three brothers, J.T., Charles and George Moore.

Clara is survived by her three children, Vickie Caulfield and husband, Dan, of Kansas City, Missouri, Connie Philippeit and Derwin Snodgrass of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Earl Laughlin, Jr. and wife, Shannon, of Pineville, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Edna Calhoun of Independence, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Ruby Molder

Ruby Nadine Molder, 90 years, of Powell, Missouri passed away peacefully in her home on November 2, 2017, following months of declining health.

Ruby was born on February 13, 1927 near Powell, Missouri to the late Ellis and Iona (Slinkard) Cooper. She attended high school at White Rock School in Jane, Missouri. On February 15, 1946 Ruby and Edwin (Bud) Molder were united in marriage in Columbus, Kansas following a two week courtship. Bud preceded her in death on February 25, 1996, ten days after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Ruby and Bud enjoyed their married life on their farm in Powell, Missouri, raising cattle and large gardens. She loved to read and visit on the phone with good friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a granddaughter, Gayla; a sister, Imogene Hall and two brothers, Donald Lee Cooper and William Darrell Cooper.

Ruby is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Donald Woolard and granddaughter, Joni Woolard all of Powell, Missouri; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Ruby.

Graveside funeral services for Ruby Molder will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Union Cemetery in Stella, Missouri.

Pat Jennett

Patrick “Pat” Jennett, 68, of Sarcoxie, MO passed away Monday, October 30, 2017.

Pat was born February 3, 1949 in Monett, MO to the union of the late Daniel and Mary (Flehmer) Jennett. Pat was a 1967 graduate of Sarcoxie High School, a graduate of Northeastern Oklahoma A & M College, and attended Oklahoma State University. In 2005 he retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation and enjoyed raising Longhorn cattle.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Phillis Schoen.

Survivors include his brother, J.D. Jennett and longtime friend Nita Jeffries, nephews and friends.

Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sarcoxie, MO with Father Hank Grodecki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home. Rosary will follow at 7:30 p.m. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jeff Schoen, Chris Schoen, Jade Jennett, Jared Jennett, Ronnie Long and Terry Cahalan.
