Bertha Schrock

Bertha Schrock, age 91 years, 7 months, and 23 days, died peacefully at her home January 30, 2020. She was born July 7, 1928 to John E. & Edna Yoder.

On October 19, 1950 she married Feltie Schrock in Thomas, Oklahoma. They lived in matrimony 69 years, 3 months, and 7 days. 

Survivors include her husband, Feltie; 2 sons, Herman and wife Mary, Sarcoxie, MO; Daniel and wife Nancy, Stark City, MO; twin sister, Barbara Stutzman, Leon, IA; Dorothy Kinsinger, Oakland, MD; I brother, Toby Yoder, Paris, TX; 12 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 grandson, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 2 at 10:00 A.M. at Spring River Mennonite Church, LaRussell with burial in the church cemetery.

Delores Turner

Delores Kay Turner, age 77, Galena, Kansas, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Mercy Hospital after an illness.

Delores was born April 6, 1942 in Joplin to the late Revie Farrar and Nadine Boyd Farrar and had lived in the Galena area all of her life.

She worked for the Galena School District for thirty five years, retiring in 2007. Delores enjoyed all kinds of card games; dominoes and spending time with her family. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sheldon Turner, Sr.; a son, Robert Sheldon Turner, Jr.; and siblings, Wendell Farrar, Jimmy Farrar, Danny Farrar, Doris Cole, Donna McKeel and Vickie Prince.

Survivors include her siblings, Carlene Kienzle, Joplin, Sue Routledge, Neosho, Reva Wallace, Seneca; a grandson, Sheldon Turner; great grandchildren, Michelle Kimberly Jeffrey, Adriana Nichole Marie Turner, David Cordale Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are planned for Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church. Josh Branham will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena.

 Pallbearers will be Ron Floyd, Robert McGiven, Sheldon Turner, Robert Wallace, Tom Garrett and Mark Keinzle. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Nola Clark

Nola May Clark, age 92, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center.

Nola was born January 12, 1928 in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of the late Burge Pendley and Vesta Austin Pendley.

She married Claud Ernest Clark on September 3, 1944, in Columbus, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2003.

Nola spent many years in Costa Mesa, California where she worked at Hartley Pen Company. She then returned to Joplin where she was a homemaker.

Nola enjoyed watching sports, NASCAR, golf and football were her favorites. She also loved music and attending Keith Urban concerts with her family. She was kind hearted and had a wittiness about her. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

 

In addition to her parents, Nola was also preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Nola is survived by her children, Ken Clark and wife, Delaine, Joplin, Missouri, Sharon Wilson and husband, David, Carthage, Missouri, Rick Clark and wife, Lori, Joplin, Missouri, Dan Clark and wife, Shelley, Saginaw, Missouri; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Graveside services will be Friday, February 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Saginaw Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

John Underwood

John Lloyd Underwood passed away on February 2, 2020 at the age of 86. He was born on August 7, 1933 in Cleora, Oklahoma to henry and Alberta Underwood.

He joined the Army at 17 and served in the Korean War with the 45th out of Oklahoma. John worked at BFGoodrich for 30 years.

John served on the school board for Bluejacket Schools for several years.

John was a member of First Baptist Church in Bluejacket, OK for 35 years. After moving to Gentry, Arkansas in the year 2000, he became a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Gentry.

He is survived by his 5 children, Diane and husband, Steven Tillman of Gentry, AR., Scott Gordon and wife, Brenda of Joplin, MO., David Underwood and wife, Janet of Vinita, OK., Andrea May and her husband, Ken of Sumter, SC., and Jason Underwood and wife, April of Joplin, MO; also 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, mother, Alberta Underwood and father, Henry Underwood.

The service will be Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 10:00am at Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Gentry, AR. The graveside will be at Bluejacket Cemetery at 2:00pm that day.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 7, 2020 between 5:00pm-7:00pm at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs, AR.

Tony Duncan

William 'Tony' Duncan was born August 1, 1965 in Stella, Missouri, the son of W. A. and Margaret (Hutchison) Duncan. He entered into rest on February 1, 2020 in Neosho at the age of 54.

Tony was a lifelong resident of Granby and Neosho and had worked as a lead man at American Family Homes in Anderson and at Talbot Wire in Neosho. 

Tony is survived by his son, Kenyon Duncan of Neosho; sister, Carol Duncan of Granby; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alan Duncan.

Tony will be cremated and the family will have a service at a later date.

Donald Hart

Donald R. Hart was called home by the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2020.

Donald was born October 7, 1936 in Portland, Oregon and grew up in the greater Los Angeles area, living in Los Angeles proper, Hollywood, and in the Inglewood/Hawthorne area. He attended (4 ½ years) and graduated in January 1959, the West Coast School of Bible in Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Sacred Literature degree. Later, in his 50s, he took additional selected classes in the Master’s Program at Pacific Christian College (now Hope International University), Fullerton, California. 

Donald was ordained into the ministry on May 3, 1959 and served as the Associate Minister at his home congregation for seven years. Dorothy was the pre-school/kindergarten Sunday school teacher at that same congregation. 

Donald and Dorothy were married June 1962 in Inglewood, CA, and have a daughter, DeAnn (Becky) Hart, a son, Daniel Hart, and two adult grandsons, Kristopher and Kyle Sisseck. Together, they have served congregations in Inglewood, CA, Hutchinson, KS, Fort Morgan, CO, North Platte, NE, Garibaldi, OR, Oskaloosa, IA, and, since, 1998, they have served the Antioch Christian Church in Pittsburg, MO. 

Most of the churches they have served were either a mission type of work, which needed rebuilding, or a part-time church, which has necessitated Donald being bi-vocational. This has included driving a school bus (20+ years), owning two retail food service businesses, insurance sales, and various other jobs as needed. 

Donald has a history of public service and civic involvement in the places they have lived. This has included being a volunteer sheriff/police chaplain, leadership in school organizations, holding office in local and regional Lions Club organizations, chaplain for local Boy Scout troops, and elected city counselor, and leadership in local ministerial fellowship groups. 

A celebration of his life will be held at Antioch Christian Church at Pomme de Terre Lake, 26738 CRD 275, Pittsburg, MO on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at 10:30 am. Minister Victor Knowles will officiate. Interment will be in New Salem Cemetery, Neosho, MO on Thursday, February 6 at 3:00 pm. Helen Chancellor

Helen P. Chancellor was born October 20, 1925 on the main street of Goodman, Missouri, one of four children to Vernie and Pauline Williams. She entered into rest on February 1, 2020 at the home of her daughter and son in law in Thornton, Colorado at the age of 94.

Helen worked at Camp Crowder during World War II as a dental assistant. She married the love of her life, Delbert C. Chancellor on February 28, 1946 and they moved to Fayetteville where they lived for one year. They then moved back to Goodman and in 1963 moved to Neosho where Helen lived until 2017 when she moved to Thornton to be closer to family. After marriage, she was a stay at home Mom and later in life she worked at Mode-O-Day on the square in Neosho. 

She played the organ at the First Baptist Church from 1953 to 1964 and then played the organ at the Neosho First Baptist Church from 1964 to 1972. She was a member of the Neosho First Baptist Church. Helen was an avid sports fan and loved watching sports on TV and attending games, especially the Holiday Basketball Tournament in Neosho. She also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Vernie and Pauline Williams; Three brothers, Ethmar, Ralph, and Harold Williams; her husband, Delbert C. Chancellor; Three sisters-in-law, Naomi, Dorlene, and Lucille Williams.

Helen is survived by her son, Jim (Carolyn) Chancellor of Clermont, FL; her daughter, Judy (Rick) Ince of Thornton, CO; Her grandchildren, Christ (John) Luke of Temple, TX, Jennifer (Rick) Gregg of Commerce City, CO, Andrea (Matt) Cooper of Platte City, MO and Richie (Elizabeth) Ince of Pueblo West, CO; Great-grandchildren, Morgan, Hunter, Cody, and Austin Corten, Jacoby Gregg, and Averi and MaKayla Ince. One brother-in-law, Arthur (Linda) Chancellor; Two sisters-in-law, Pat Upchurch and Betty Chancellor; Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Serving as pallbearers will be Richie Ince, Rick Gregg, Matt Cooper, John Luke, Tom Layton, and Tim Williams.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church, Neosho, MO in memory of Helen Chancellor.
