Emma L. ‘Billie’ Dunkin, age 84, Joplin, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015 at a nursing facility in San Antonio, Texas after an illness.
Billie was born January 23, 1931 in Schell City, Missouri to the late John B. King and Ruth Kern King and had lived in Joplin most of her life. She worked at the former Ramada Inn in Joplin for over 20 years as the food and beverage director.
Billie married Bill Dunkin on February 18, 1972 in Springfield. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2005. She is survived by a son, Chester Lewis Maples, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, Castroville, Texas; two daughters, Cheri Colton with Terry Martin, Springfield, Missouri, Barbara Gregory and her husband, Keith, Bentonville, Arkansas; 9 grandchildren, Jim Colton, Jr., Chris Colton, Pennie Maples Robertson, Nikki Maples Wiemers, Buck Maples, Wendie Maples Winter, Dylan Caldwell, Jonah Caldwell, Rachel Gregory; and 12 great grandchildren.
Graveside services are planned for Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Lowell Cemetery, Lowell, Kansas. Steve Garman, Minister, will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 2-3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Pallbearers will be Keith Gregory, Jonah Caldwell, Dylan Caldwell, Lewis Maples, Josh Robertson and Terry Martin.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
