Kathleen Payne

Kathleen Nance Payne, known to her family as “Nanny Boo”, age 94, of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Webb City Health & Rehab Center, following an illness.

 Kathleen was born on September 27, 1926 in Kings Lynn, England, the daughter of the late Henry and Edith (Barker) Poole. She served in the British Auxiliary Territory Service Army during WWII. Prior to the war she married George Payne on May 21, 1940 in Portsmouth, England. They migrated to the US in 1976. She became a United States Citizen in 1995. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a Methodist. She enjoyed crocheting, Bingo, Garage Sales, and her many collections. Kathleen was very spirited, she rode her bicycle until the age of eighty-five. She was an excellent gardener. 

Kathleen is survived by one daughter, Shirley Ann Brock and husband Jim, Webb City, Mo.; two sisters, Pamela Lowe and Joyce Younge, both of Kings Lynn, England; two grandchildren, Beverly Brewer and husband Troy, and Darrell Brock and wife Karen; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Hulstine and wife Amber, Natalee Gleason and husband Tyler, Aidan Brock, Christian Brock, and Alec Eubanks; one great-great grandchild, Brock Hulstine; and a dear friend who she loved like a daughter, Judy Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Barry F. Payne; two brothers, Derrick Poole and George Barker; and three sisters, Margaret Leake, Grace Howes, and Doreen Greenwood. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jarel Burnside will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.
