Tom Heter

Thomas (Tom) W. Heter, 68, of Joplin, passed away on February 8, 2015, at his sister and brother-in-law’s home in Tulsa, OK. 

He was born September 8, 1946, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Dana Donald and Margaret Louise Heter. As a young child his family moved to Springfield, MO, where he was raised. He graduated from Parkview High School in 1964. Tom graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1990, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and in 1991, with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He worked many years in the janitorial supply business where he enjoyed serving his loyal customers in Pittsburg and the surrounding area. He was a member of the All Saints Anglican Church in Chicopee. He was also a member of the Springfield Junior Chamber of Commerce, Joplin Rotary and Christian Businessman’s Club and former member of the Springfield Jaycees. 

Tom is survived by two daughters, Laura Elizabeth Lee of Springfield, MO, and Amanda Marie Heter of Kansas City, MO, two sons, Marc Thomas Williams of Fayetteville, AR, and Jonathan Thomas Heter and his wife, Ashleigh Ann of Pittsburg, KS, two sisters, Elizabeth Sue Stith of Grapevine, TX, and Cynthia Louise Woodson and her husband, Edgar William Jr. of Tulsa, OK, one brother, Dana Donald Heter Jr. of Richardson, TX, and three granddaughters, Kristen Williams of Ozark, MO, Natalie Ann and Brooke Therese Heter of Pittsburg, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Judy Wilkinson and two brothers-in-law, Vic Wilkinson and Paxton Stith. 

A memorial service for Tom is set for 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2015, at the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends following the service. The family suggests memorials to Seasons Hospice of Tulsa. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
