Ken Swabby

Clifford Kenneth ‘Ken’ Swabby, 89, Neosho, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2015 after a short illness at Joplin Health and Rehab Center. 

He was born August 26, 1925 near Bolivar, Missouri, the son of Walter and Goldie (Myrley) Swabby, one of eleven children. Ken was a World War II veteran and fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was extremely proud to have served his country. He received many medals and awards for his service. Ken was a longtime employee of Armour Company and retired from Excel in Fort Morgan, Colorado in 1989, where he served as plant engineer. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and held many positions over the years and is a Deacon Emeritus. He was a loving and devoted husband, loving farther and amazing grandfather. Kenneth was a phenomenal man. 

Kenneth married Doris Wallen on September 19, 1948 in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Dr. Diane Cahill and husband, Dr. Allen Cahill of Denver, Colorado and Kathy Kronkow of Neosho; grandchildren, Jennifer Howard and husband, Scotty, Jodi Cargile and husband Nathan, and Jacquie Lane and husband, Jacob, all of Neosho; great grandchildren, Wyatt Mermis, Ryan and Brandon Cargile, along with great granddaughter in waiting, Jacelyn Lane. He is also survived by a brother, John Swabby and wife Molly and sisters in law, Lois Allred, Barbara Spitz and Daphne Wallen. He will be reunited with his parents, infant son, Kerry Allen; four brothers and five sisters.
