Sandra Zentner

(From Parker Mortuary)

Sandra Jean Martin Zentner, 76, a lifelong resident of Joplin, Missouri, joined our Lord in Heaven February 12, 2015 after complications from a surgical procedure.

Sandra was born June 16, 1938, the daughter of Leonard and Freda Stoller Martin. Sandra was active in her youth as a musician in the Joplin school system and at Connor Avenue Baptist church. She enjoyed participation with the flute and voice but her passion was playing the piano and organ. As an adult, Sandra held the position as organist at Connor Avenue and Forest Park Baptist churches for well over 30 years. She was also employed as organist/accompanist at Parker Mortuary for many years and played for countless weddings in the community.

Sandra was an only child and had always wished for brothers and sisters. This may have lead to her love of children which she demonstrated with her own five children. She was a dedicated teacher in her church with the AWANAs, the Children's New Christians classes and Vacation Bible School. Sandra enjoyed sharing her musical talents by teaching piano to hundreds of young students over the years and was proud of them at each recital and contest they participated in.

Sandra is survived by her husband of 58 years, Fred Zentner; two sons, Martin Zentner and his wife, Vicki, of Westmoreland, Kansas, and Michael Zentner of Carl Junction; a daughter, Ellen Bridgewater and her husband, David, of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Katy and Ian McLean, Topeka, Kansas; Christine, Jessica and Jeffrey Zentner of Westmoreland, Kansas; Joseph and Kyle Bridgewater of Wichita, Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Tanner Zentner/Resser of Westmoreland, Kansas. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Missy Zentner/McLean in 2006 and a son, Eric Zentner in 2014.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Forest Park Baptist Worship Center with Dr. John Swadley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Private graveside services will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Bridgewater, Martin Zentner, Joseph Bridgewater, Kyle Bridgewater, Jeffrey Zentner, Ian McLean, with Michael Zentner serving as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Forest Park Baptist Church AWANAS in care of Parker Mortuary.
