Harold Wallace Schultze, age 93, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, formerly of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 3:02 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon. He was born September 21, 1925, in Monroe, Louisiana, the son of Robert and Genevieve (Scoby) Schultze.
Harold was a United States Coast Guard veteran and was a manager for Prudential Insurance. After retiring from Prudential he was a greeter for Walmart in Lubbock, Texas. He was a member of the Royal Heights Baptist Church in Joplin and he loved Alabama Crimson Tide Football.
On October 11, 1946 he married Mildred Priestley in Ensley, Alabama. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2009.
Harold is survived by two sons, Scott Schultze and Buddy Samuels, both of Joplin; one daughter, Cathy Thompson and her husband, Gary, of Discovery Bay, California; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Betty Samek of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Anna Priestley of Northboro, Massachusetts.
His parents, Robert and Genevieve, wife, Mildred, son, Mark Schultze, brother, Danny Samek and a great-grandson, Carson Thompson, preceded him in death.
A memorial graveside, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.FossettMosherFuneralHome.com.
