Jim Wood

(From Simpson Funeral Home)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved James Rodman Wood, fondly known as Jim or Jimmy to his friends and family. Born on July 14, 1951, in Joplin, MO, James was a man who lived life to the fullest and made an indelible impact on the lives of those around him. He was a witty, loving, talented, and reliable individual who always had a smile on his face and a kind word for anyone who crossed his path.

Jim was a self-employed contractor and ran his own construction business, JR Wood Construction, for many years before retiring in 2020. He was known for his dedication and exemplary work ethic, which was evident in the quality of his work.

However, Jim was not just a hardworking man; he was also a man of many passions. He loved fishing, farming, and gardening, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved his farm just as much as he loved his family, nurturing both with equal affection. A man of simple tastes, James had a fondness for old western shows, a love he carried with him throughout his life. Day or night, Jim was always there to lend a helping hand to those that need it.

Jim was a loving husband to Zelda Wood and a devoted son to his late parents, James Sr. and Mary Wood. He was a man who cherished his family above all else, always putting their needs before his own. As the famous saying goes, "A man who doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man." This quote resonated with James and he lived by it every day, making sure to spend as much time as possible with his family.

Jim was preceded in passing by his parents James Sr. and Mary Wood; son, David Honigman and brother, Tim Wood. He is survived by his Loving wife Zelda Wood; daughter, Jennifer Wood; sons, Brian Honigman and Jimmy Wood; granddaughter, Lindsey (Payton) Smith; great grandson, Karson Smith; Sisters, Cathy Maxwell and Pam (Ken) Parker.

Jim Wood leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication. His witty personality and sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life and the joy he brought to all of us.
