(From Knell Mortuary)James Leonard “Jim” McClellan, 94, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage. Jim was born September 8, 1926 in Nevada, Missouri, the son of Leonard McClellan and Doris (Shaw) McClellan.
Jim was a veteran proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He married Ruby McKnight on May 8, 1948 in Chamois, Missouri. He was owner and operator of Jim’s Barber Shop in Carthage. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage. He enjoyed raising registered Shorthorn Cattle when his sons were young and growing up. Jim was also an avid golfer and loved fishing with his wife.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Ruby McClellan; three sons, Jim McClellan (Karen), Carthage, Ron McClellan (Beverly), Edgerton, Missouri, and Ted McClellan, Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren, Ross McClellan (Carrie), Lizzi Wilkinson (Jerid), Deric McClellan (Wynoka), Cassie McClellan, and Molly Chang (Ron); ten great-grandchildren and one on the way in January; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Gwen Fitzer, and Ruby Keeton.
Private family graveside services will be held. Jim will lie in state for those who wish to sign the book and pay respects from Monday, October 12, 2020 through Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 8 am – 5 pm.
