(From Knell Mortuary)Max Loren Spencer, 81, Jasper, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Truman Healthcare and Rehab, Lamar, Missouri. Max was born October 31, 1938 in Webb City, Missouri, the son of Joseph Franklin Spencer and Edith Anna (Phillips) Spencer.
He married Iona Mae Murdock on October 13, 1955 in Miami, Oklahoma. Max was a farmer and also worked as a service engineer for Cardinal Scale in Webb City. He was a member of Christ’s Church of Oronogo, Oronogo, Missouri. Max enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors, but most of all, loved his family.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Iona Spencer; a son, Max Loren Spencer, Jr. (Chris Strait), Webb City; three daughters, Frances Marie Spencer, Webb City, Maxine Iona Galliher (Robert), Eagle River, Alaska, and Bonnie Leann Boyd (Paul), Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Jerry Lee Spencer, Joplin, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Deckard (Ronald), Sabrina Reineke (Seth), Cody Strait (Erin); Tyler Spencer, Bailey Spencer, Spencer Paul Boyd, Chad Wilson (Josie), and Shawn Galliher; four great-grandchildren, Sophia Lauren Spencer-Asbell, Bly Jadin Deckard, Madelyn Paige Reineke, and Dylan Paige Strait; and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Joe Dale Spencer.
A celebration of life were held Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Spencer Farm, 20285 Nutmeg Road, Jasper, Missouri 64755. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
