Roy Mitchell

Roy L. Mitchell, Anderson, Missouri, was born September 5, 1931 in Goodman, Missouri, the son of Elmer E. and Letta (James) Mitchell. He entered into rest on October 10, 2020 in Joplin, following an extended illness at the age of 89. 

Roy was a lifelong area resident. He honorably served in the U.S. Army, Field Artillery Corp, Korean War from 1952-1954. He entered service on September 17, 1952 in Little Rock, Arkansas and was honorably discharged in 1954 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. 

He worked at Preston Refrigeration in Kansas City, Missouri and then in refrigeration engineering for Tyson Foods for twenty eight years. 








He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the great outdoors and loved animals. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anderson. Above all, Roy was a wonderful husband and father who loved God and his family. He will be missed by many. 

Roy and Janice (Jeffers) were united in marriage on October 6, 1956 in Neosho and they shared 64 years together. 

In addition to his wife, Janice, Roy is survived by five children, Debbie (Larry) Styles of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Tausha (Richard) Clemons of Granby, Rick Mitchell of Anderson, Michael (Kayla) Mitchell of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Jeffrey (Sherrie) Mitchell of Springdale, Arkansas; four sisters, Juanita (James) Mahurin, Kay Mitchell Ehrisman, Joanna Mitchell Barnhart and Cheryl Jean Mitchell; two brothers, Marvin Mitchell and Tom Mitchell; twelve grandchildren, Matthew Styles, Casey Clapp, Mitchell Styles, Hailee Allison, Taylor Deal, Tyler Clemons, Jonathan Mitchell, Austin Clemons, Cameron Clemons, Jonah Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell and Norah Mitchell and nine great grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Lynn Mitchell; granddaughter, Emily Clemons; five brothers; two sisters and his faithful dog, Susie.

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho on Tuesday from 9 am until 6 pm. Private family services are planned. Contributions in memory of Roy may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850
